ABOUT

I'm a journalism student at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. Originally from the Bay Area, I spent this past fall studying in Buenos Aires. I'm the editor-in-chief of the award-winning campus publication North by Northwestern, and I've interned at UCSF, Pitchfork and the Alameda Sun. I graduate next year, but until then, I'll be living the intern life.

WRITING

North by Northwestern Magazine
My cover story on college students and online dating won a Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. I've also written about geocaching, student entrepreneurs and the music school's jury system.

NorthbyNorthwestern.com
I wrote about music for the country's best college website according to the Society of Professional Journalists (2010). I've been lucky to profile artists such as Best Coast, An Horse, Kaki King and Chikita Violenta.

Alameda Sun
I wrote weekly cover stories for a weekly newspaper covering city politics. I covered lawsuits both local and state-wide, the city's charter and some alleged city misconduct.

MULTIMEDIA

Video and Photography
I worked on UCSF's award-winning Committed to the City project shooting and editing video and audio slideshows. I profiled Edgewater's comic book community and Progress Illinois picked up my video about a 46th ward election.

Interactive
I created this game about campus safety as the final project for my Interactive News class. I also helped create this Northwestern University sustainability guide for the same class.

Design and Development
I was the design director for RealPersonMoments.com, a site I built with my Web Producing class using HTML5, CSS, PHP, WordPress back-end and JavaScript. I also wrote stories about money and personal finance.
